Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It is the sixth installment in the Call of Duty series and the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, continuing the story of its protagonist, John "Soap" MacTavish.
The game's campaign follows Task Force 141, a special forces unit fronted by Captain John Price, as they hunt Vladimir Makarov, leader of the Russian Ultranationalist party, and the United States Army Rangers, who are defending the country from a Russian invasion. The game's multiplayer mode features various game modes and a customizable character class system.
Modern Warfare 2 was released on November 10, 2009, for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The game received critical acclaim for its gameplay, story, and graphics, and was the best-selling game of 2009. However, it also generated controversy due to its depiction of an airport massacre and the inclusion of a level in which the player controls a terrorist.
